Since then, the campus has grown to include five undergraduate colleges, a medical school, the School of Engineering, the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, four libraries on the general campus in addition to the libraries at Scripps and the Medical Center, the Center for Magnetic Recording Research, a research facility in molecular biology, and a super computer facility.
Today, the San Diego campus is known for its excellent undergraduate and graduate programs. The percentage of UCSD graduates who go on to earn Ph.D. and M.D. degree is the highest among U.S. public universities and colleges, according to two national studies. UCSD sits high on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the beautiful seaside town of La Jolla (population 32,800).
