Important Notice: Two Americans, David Daliberti and Bill Barloon, were recently taken hostage by Iraq and sentenced to eight years in an Iraqi prison. We Kuwaitis sympathise greatly with their families, especially since 625 Kuwaitis have been held hostage in Iraq since the war. Please help the Dalibertis and the Barloons in their plight by checking out this site.
"Kuwait. Kuwait, Kuwait! That was all I heard. Kuwait, Kuwait! At last this paradise on earth was just below the horizon's rim and on the morrow would arise. Kuwait, Kuwait, where every ship was a sturdy clipper and every girl was beautiful, where the houses of the Sheikh and the merchants were mansions full of the wealth of the Indies, where the water was sweet and the fruit glorious and the melons lying upon the earth were flavored with Myrrh and honey. What a place this Kuwait must be - more fruitful than Zanzibar, more blessed than Beirut, more healthy than the Indian hills." - Alan Villiers, arriving at Kuwait on a Boom with a crew of (exuberant) Kuwaitis, 1938.
