Tie-ins kick off for Disney's Pocahontas

Walt Disney Co. is unleashing a marketing blitz for the animated opus, "Pocahontas," opening June 23. The buzz got under way June 10, with a premiere in New York's Central Park. On June 15, Burger King Corp. will begin its "Pocahontas" promotion, featuring Kids Club meals and collectors glasses, supported by $40 million in media from Ammirati & Puris/Lintas, New York. On June 19, Nestle Chocolate & Confection will break a 30-second spot, from Dailey & Associates, Los Angeles, in support of Pocahontas milk chocolate bars.

Frankly, consumers won't put up with it here on the Internet or other interactive media sources. Let's forget about our message and take note of what the consumer REALLY wants. Sure, we should have some product/service information available for interested consumers. But, where's the added value in that? My question to our ad agency is, #quot;What can we give to our consumer public that will enhance their experience with this interactive media#quot;? Oh, by the way, don't get hung up on the 'P' word--it's been arround much longer than the Internet.
