Established in the 1960's, we were one of the first groups in Britain to offer advanced level education in Bioengineering. Our activities remain focused on postgraduate research and teaching involving over 30 people, including its postgraduate students and visiting researchers.
Our goal is the application of engineering and technology principles to the development of equipment and measurement methods for use in clinical management and assessment. Individual researchers have extended these to research in other areas such as sports injuries, design of equipment worn in hazardous situations, and fundamental studies of the structure and behaviour of human tissues.
The range of interests offers an exciting base for supporting advanced studies, applied research contracts and training programmes.
