The WWW Dungeon

Welcome to the Dungeon of WWW!

Up now - the Pub, the Treasury, and the Zoo!

Soon coming - a walk-through representation of the department of linguistics at the University of Gothenburg, where the WWW Dungeon is being created!

This is a tiny skeleton of a game in the first-perspective-vein of RPGs, which all freaks of Dungeon Master, Wizardry, Might & Magic etc. should recognize. It is in a very early stage of development, and the first thing I decided to keep small was, as you will see, the amount of detail in the graphics. There should be enough frames to create a believable scenery, but the walls might look slightly awkward at times (the frames are all painted one by one, not computed).

As this is all HTML only, there is no real interaction. All you can do is to walk around, read whatever you come across, and generally admire the scenery.

Still, I hope it will be good enough to give it a slight touch of a real dungeon-crawl. I will of course enhance it in the future; the better the response, the more I will work on it and the better it will get. Colour will be added any day; this has been expressed as the most wanted enhancement. Obviously, it will mean even longer access-times.

If you haven't understood it yet, this is the natural development of the text-only or text+graphics-adventures of which there are some on the Web (the best I have seen being Rei's CyberMUD).

Trivia: the current dungeon has 25 locations and 4 chambers in 104 files (with a *lot* of links between). There are 44 graphic frames.

I hope you will enjoy it.
