The What, the How, and the When of the Camerata

The Camerata is a new chamber orchestra and chorus based in Pierson College of Yale University. Its co-directors and founders are Doug Hoppe and Eric Keylor. The orchestra is now in the second semester of its existance.

The Camerata will perform two concerts per academic year (one in December and one in April) and will attempt to support smaller ensambles made of Camerata members as much as possible. The Camerata hopes to sponsor impromptu outdoor public concerts and music for college functions. All concerts will be free of charge and will be open to the public. Practice rehearsals take place every Sunday afternoon in the Pierson Common Room.

Membership is by audition and is free of charge. If vacancies should occur or if there should be a change in the programme that requires new musicians, auditions will be announced and held to fill all vacancies. Currently, all positions are made by appointment at the discretion of the co-music directors.
