Welcome to the Fair

Welcome to the 1994 Illinois State Fair!

Fare Thee Well!

Results are still coming in!

The 1994 Illinois State Fair has ended in Springfield, but lives on in cyberspace, as these pages will not disappear with the close of the fair. On top of that, in the past week, we received a number of wire stories detailing results of various events, and these are being added even as you read!

Feel free to visit as often as you like as a way of remembering the fair, and as a way to look ahead to next year!

This is the first known state fairgrounds on the World Wide Web. If you are visiting the Fair, which has a long and glorious history, use these pages to find out what went on, where, and when.

In addition, thousands of persons not able to attend the Illinois State Fair this year have followed along on the Internet. If you would like to see who has visited to date, we have collected some statistics on how many visitors have attended through the Web and from where they connected.

This Virtual State Fair will also let you visit sites around the state of Illinois that are accessible from the Information Superhighway. As an example, why not take a moment to visit Champaign County, in the heart of the Silicon Prairie, or you can visit a variety of Illinois exhibits on the World Wide Web.

You can also visit the DuQuoin State Fair that is in full swing this week.

And what state fair, virtual or real, would this be if we did not have our own Queen as official hostess? Amy Maguire Is hostess for both the Illinois and DuQuoin State Fairs.

These pages and the browser you are most likely using to read them are brought to you by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign. Additional help has been provided by The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy.

The connection to the Internet at the Illinois State Fair is a combined effort of Ameritech, NCSA, and the Computing and Communications Services Office (CCSO) of the University of Illinois and is being coordinated by the office of Lt. Gov. Bob Kustra.

Come with us as we continue to celebrate the 175th anniversary of Illinois Statehood!
