• Cool TOOLS
  Here's my list of gaming TOOLS that I think are neat. Some of them can be used directly ON the net, while some are downloadable.
  • The Archives of Persona is a list of characters from various authors. You can get some cool personalities here.
  • Random Encounters Page HTML-ified from Joseph DuBois' (Scooby's) Random Encounters from rec.games.frp.dnd. I'm trying to make some sort of random GENERATOR that will pick one of these, based on some set of criteria. Who knows when that might happen.
  • Spiffy Dice Roller for those times (gasp!) when you haven't any dice.
  • The Net-RPG server. A friend of mine wrote this IRC-like server for running games across the net. It allows for dice-rolling, damage, initiative, and semi-automatic combat. It is fantastically written, and works off of a Macintosh server (though any telnet works once the server is set up). Net-RPG is in this directory somewhere, but you'll have to find the newest version (look for net-rpg*)...
  • GM Screen Utility (haven't checked it out yet)

• Other Games There's a lot of fun role-playing games besides ADnD out there. This is the beginning of a list of them.
  • The Tolkien RPG list lists many ICE products, including Rolemaster and MERP. I haven't seen any good sites for these games, though.
  • Paranoia A FUNNY Brave New World spoof.
  • Robotech
  • ShadowRun is a dark portrayal of futuristic USA. I love this game.
  • Battletech More of a tactical warfare game, but I think it belongs here.

• FTP Sites -- Make sure your Web Browser is set to LOAD TO DISK before FTPing.
  • Tom Petersen's EXTENSIVE list of specific FTP Sites and Archives
  • MPGN (the Multi-Player Games Network) now has the sole license for electronic dispersal of AD&D information.
  • Graphical (faster) representation of the MPGN archive. Allows you to browse without connecting to the site (which only has 3 connections.)

• Electronic Texts
  Fluff is a term describing fictional stories presented by authors to the net. 101 lists are collections (usually funny) of information not at all beneficial to the game, but quite useful if you like to laugh. Campaign Backgrounds and electronic magazines also fall into this category.

  • Now on IRC is a Channel for discussion of the RPGA and related role-playing issues. Simply run IRC (consult your sysadmin for help here) and type /join #RPGA
  • A great, big Science Fiction literature information server.
  • A page for J.R.R. Tolkien fans.
  • List and Archive Collectors (from Mail-List adnd-l) -- If you've got some interesting people, items, monsters, etc. READ THIS LIST and send your stuff to the right people!
  • E-Mail ListServers, like newsgroups, discuss many issues of role-playing games.
