About the Department
The OSU department of aeronautical and astronautical engineering was
founded in 1953. Its mission is to train engineering students in the
disciplines related to the design and construction of aircraft and
spacecraft.
Research
"Godzilla", the world's largest capacitor bank, is used for
experiments with plasma dynamics
CFD research, including projects on aeroacoustics, heat
transfer, and airfoil aerodynamics
experimental fluid mechanics, focusing currently on high-altitude
aerodynamic phenomena
