The Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) Project is part of NASA's High Performance Computing and Communications (HPCC) Program. It is an experiment to quantify the characteristics of massively parallel computing systems that are required in order to make them productive and useful to Earth and space scientists. This is a joint project between NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and is managed by the Goddard Space Flight Center. The ESS Project is organized into five major areas:
AN OVERVIEW OF JPL'S PARTICIPATION IN NASA'S HPCC EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE PROJECT IS AVAILABLE IN THE "MORE ESS PROJECT INFO" ICON BELOW.
Additional information regarding the ESS project is available from the GSFC ESS Home Page. Information on the Federal HPCC Program is available through the HPCC Coordinating Office.
JPL also currently participates in the K-12 Educational Outreach element under the Information Infrastructure and Technology Applications Program.
JPL's Educational Affairs Office's TEACHER RESOURCE CENTER provides Educational Resources (Lesson plans, images), Information on interesting Educational Programs, and links to other NASA and additional Educational Resources. MORE K-12 INFO
One of the IITA Program projects is "Telescopes in Education" (TIE) which allows students and teachers to access the optical telescopes on Mount Wilson. For more information TIE
