Pipeline 50 HX
Remote LAN Access - Telecommuting - Internet Access
The Pipeline 50 HX model connects Ethernet-based computers in small offices and homes to
backbone networks over inexpensive ISDN lines. With the Pipeline 50 HX individual
users gain access to corporate network resources and the Internet.
The Pipeline 50 HX differs from Ascend Pipeline 50 ISDN in that it supports one Ethernet-based user at a time, while the Pipeline 50 ISDN supports multiple Ethernet-based users.
In a single modem-sized box, the Pipeline 50 HX combines bandwidth on demand,
an ISDN basic rate interface (BRI) terminal adapter, routing and bridging, LAN & WAN
network management, and an optional built-in ISDN NT1 unit for direct connection to an ISDN BRI line..
Bandwidth on Demand
- Dial-up connections are automatically established and removed as needed, based upon data traffic density.
- Inverse multiplexing uses both ISDN B-channels for 112/128 kbit/s data rate.
- Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation varies bandwidth in real time
- Data compression boosts bandwidth up to 512 kbit/s (4:1)
- Supports two simultaneous connections to different locations
Internet Access
- Many of the largest Internet access providers have standardized on Ascend
products for switched digital access. Pipeline 50 HX provides high-speed,
switched digital access to the Internet over ISDN BRI.
Integrated ISDN BRI
- Fully integrated ISDN interface for plug-and-play operation.
- ISDN BRI
- Standard S/T Interface
- Optional U-interface (National ISDN-1 compliant) eliminates need for external NT1 device
- Certified for operation in over 26 countries worldwide
Access Routing and Bridging
- Sophisticated protocol support ensures efficient
connectivity to all LANs and the Internet.
- Standard multiprotocol bridging
- IP Routing
- PPP, MP and MPP (Ascend's Multichannel Point-to-Point protocol, a superset of MP)
- Transmit and receive packet filtering
- Header and data compression
Full LAN/WAN Management and Control
- Manage your remote access equipment and
bandwidth as easily as you manage your local LAN facilities.
- Integrated SNMP
- LAN and ISDN SNMP MIBs
- Telnet remote management
- Rigid security features
- Call Detail Reporting
- WAN loopbacks
- FLASH memory for software downline loading
