Founded in 1990, Bristol is headquartered in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Because of our early success and rapid growth, we are always on the lookout for top-notch software developers!
Bristol is its employees. Below are some basic statistics on Bristol's employees:
But statistics don't tell the full story. Our philosophy has always been that we only hire the most energetic, brightest, and creative people we can find. Our search for the best people not only draws talented people from as diverse areas as Oregon, Illinois, South Carolina, Florida, and New York, but also from other countries such as India, China, and Scotland. Our engineers come from schools such as Purdue, Rensselaer Polytechnic, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, and Princeton, to name a few. The common trait? Talent, love of technology, a desire to be successful, and a sense of entrepreneurial drive.
The result? A group of people who work hard, learn from each other, and have a great time while building a company.
As you might expect from Bristol's young average age and emphasis on hiring people with high energy levels, Bristol is an exciting place to work. The company is roughly split 50/50 between engineering and marketing/sales/administration, with both groups working closely together.
There is a strong emphasis on making Bristol's work environment both productive and enjoyable. The atmosphere and dress are casual, and a flat company organization ensures that people are able to concentrate on adding value, rather than spending large amounts of time in non-productive bureaucratic endeavors.
But don't let the Ping-Pong and Foosball tables fool you; Bristol employees work very hard, and often quite long hours. A minimum work week is 50 hours, with people occasionally putting in many more hours. Bristol is not the place for "nine to fivers." Bristol employees start off with three weeks of vacation and get an extra two weeks every third year. We recognize that our employees work very hard, and they enjoy having time to occasionally play very hard (one engineer spent a month in the Utah desert this year as part of Outward Bound).
Why do Bristol folks work so hard? Because our employees hold Bristol stock and options. Therefore, each person's contributions can be greatly rewarded as the company grows and becomes more successful.
