The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is a worldwide partnership of member networks dedicated to providing low-cost computer communications services for individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working for environmental sustainability, universal human rights and social and economic justice.
All APC members are independent organizations that retain full control of their network. Member networks pay a percentage of their income to the APC Secretariat to diversify the growth of the Association.
APC was the primary provider of telecommunications for NGOs at the 1992 Earth Summit in Brasil, and in 1993 at the United Nations World Conference on Human Rights in Austria, the 1994 UN International Conference on Environment and Development in Cairo, the 1995 UN World Summit on Social Development in Copenhagen, and will also be at the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing.
Currently, APC has member networks in 16 countries and provides access to over 20,000 progressive activists and organizations in 133 countries.
