"Can we have everything louder than everything else?"
Starting in the late sixties with great successes in the States, progressing through three more lineups and a whole bundle of essential albums ( Machine Head , Made in Japan and Burn to name but three), Purple are touring, still kicking it and still creating.
These pages are closely tied to the newsgroup and as we're such broadminded people the charter of alt.music.deep-purple encourages discussion of any Purple-related stuff. If you've ever seen the book of rock family trees you'll know how twined the history of Purple is in rock history. From the immediate spinoff bands such as Gillan, Whitesnake and Rainbow, second-generation bands such as Moody-Marsden and those great musicians who have chosen or been chosen to play a part such as Cozy Powell and Dio, Satriani and Morse. Hell, even Lloyd-Webber gets a look-in.
This is by no means a static archive of a dead band. Despite having parted with founder guitarist Ritchie Blackmore for the second time, Purple have found renewed energy first with Joe Satriani and now with axe-legend Steve Morse. With our contacts out there in the business, you'll hear it here first! Tours, albums, videos, there's so much to learn - we'll help you sort the essential from the eclectic.
