Colby is the 12th oldest independent liberal arts college in the United States. Today, Colby's 1650 students come from 44 states, 43 countries, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Students may choose from nearly 500 courses in 40 major fields. In the classroom and outside, there is freedom to study, to think, to speak, and to learn in an environment that insists upon the free and open exchange of ideas and views.
