Welcome to SEP
What is new? and cool? and what's up for seminar? Visit us

or phone us or visit Stanford University in the Department of Geophysics. On the Stanford map we are in the Mitchell Building.

Using seismic soundings we get from industry we devise imaginative concepts and write clever programs (some C++), and we use high performance computers, to make images of the earth's interior. We do reproducible research with electronic documents. For more info see our cool list, CD-Roms, and recent Ph.D. theses, recent papers, Professor Jon Claerbout, his free books, or some ancient reports (26-70). First time browsers check some configuration tips.

We have some summer jobs for Stanford undergraduates, nifty tee shirts for sale, and info for prospective students.

Many Ph.D. theses are available on CD-ROM (FAQ). The SEP ftp server is "sepftp.stanford.edu". SEPlib is SEP's seismic processing utilities for UNIX platforms.

SEP hosts and maintains for the Society of Exploration Geophysics (SEG) a LaTeX package called SEGTeX including styles for preprints, manuscripts, and Extended Abstracts.

You can now look at some statistics on the access to this home page.

For Sponsors only

Sponsors of the Stanford Exploration Project might eventually be able to access research progress reports, source code and data through the SEP WWW server. (The present experimental login and password are respectively "sponsor" and "SEP-sponsor". In the future the password should be near the last page of the most recent progress report.)

Spring Sponsors meeting

This year, the spring SEP sponsors meeting will be held at Salishan Lodge, in Oregon. You can get general directions to Salishan Lodge and driving instructions and map on-line.
