The Geology Department of IUPUI presents:
Dino Fest
Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Indiana University-Purdue
University at Indianapolis and experience the fun and beauty
of the real science behind Jurassic Park with more then
30 of North America's great dinosaur hunters, Mesozoic
paleoecologists, and molecular biologists
who will talk about the origin of dinosaurs, cloning and DNA
replication, dinosaur digs, evolutionary trends and milestones,
and theories of dinosaur extinction.

Dino Fest will bring North
America's foremost scientists of paleontology together for
three days of discussion and presentations on such diverse topics
as:
- Astronomy and the physics of meteorite impacts
- Chemistry of the Mesozoic atmosphere
- Molecular biology and the replication of Tyrannosaurus rex DNA
- Histology of Dinosaur bone
- Mathematical modeling and computer morphing of dinosaur growth patterns
- Mesozoic forests
- Evolution of birds from dinosaur ancestors
- Mesozoic sanitary engineering
- Bone biomechanics
- Global evironmental cycles
The complete
schedule and registration information for Dino Fest is
available. In addition to the scheduled seminars and discussions,
other highlights of Dino Fest are given below.
Exhibits
-
Visit IUPUI's new $34 million library where dinosaur bones and
other fossils, many of which have never been shown to the public,
will be on display and where you will also see exhibits on DNA
replication, bone biomechanics, CAT scans of dinosaur eggs, and
plants from a Crestaceous forest. Exhibits in the University
Library are free and tours may be arranged by calling
(317) 274-5053. Exhibits end Saturday, March 26, at 6:00pm.
Dinosaurs on TV
-
A special two-way interactive session Friday afternoon, March 25,
will be broadcast live to Indianapolis Public Schools, courtesy
of The Ameritech Corporation, to schools across Indiana via
IHETS, and to schools across the nation and around the world via
satellite.
Dino Feast
-
Eat chicken and pine nuts and learn how birds evolved from
dinosaurs.
Dino Fest Souvenir Volume and Video
A Dino Fest souvenir volume will be published in collaboration with
The Paleontological Society. In addition, video copies of
the satellite broadcast will be made available. The estimated cost
of the souvenir volume and satellite video are $20 each. Orders can
