Internet Directory

SUBJECT DIRECTORY

YAHOO
David Filo and Jerry Yang at Stanford have been offering their directory of Internet sites for over a year now. It currently features over 32,000 entries. Yahoo also offers listings of the most popular pages, the ability to search the directory of services, and (if you're up for adventure) a way to visit any Net page at random.

DIRECTORIES OF SERVERS

Organized around a geographic metaphor, these lists of servers represent another way to get at a topic without searching for just a subject heading: Instead of looking down a well that only contains information an archiver feels is relevant to a subject, users can search horizontally across borders and subjects and potentially find interesting or new ways to uncover information. These lists are also a great way to watch how the Internet develops in different regions.

WORLD-WIDE WEB SERVERS
Another mega-list from the keepers of the flame at CERN. A regular United Nations of server sites, it also breaks out listings for each state in the United States.

VIRTUAL TOURIST
Presented by the State University of New York at Buffalo, this site features a map-based interface to almost the same information present at CERN's site.
