An Overview of the iPOINT Testbed

The Purpose of the iPOINT testbed to investigate the use of Optical/Electronic Integrated Circuits in Multi-gigabit Asynchrounous Transfer Mode (ATM) Networks. Within our testbed, we have designed and implemented a fully-functional input-bufferd ATM packet switch, which is currently used to optically interconnect three Sun SPARCStations and to link our testbed with the Blanca/Xunet Wide Area ATM Testbed.
