Raw,
wrenched, and twisted guitar noise tempered by lively bass lines and
heavy, aggressive drum beats with a voice above it all both smooth and
dynamically manic. Ambient mood swings, tempermental songwriting and
explosive live shows have established Poppy as a major contender in the
Bay Area music scene.
"...Poppy, with their melodic, slightly acoustic, hardcore edge, hinting
at that "post-punk" thing... There is little to fault them on. Their
sound is good. Their energy is good."

- Kris
played guitar and sang in another Santa Cruz band,
Slant 6 (now ostensibly living on as
Headcase-O-Matic).
By day, she owns a small house-cleaning business with her husband, Tony.
- Russ was a glam-boy
down in L.A (he'd rather not talk about it). He spends most of his time
helping out at IUMA and works on his own project,
Santa Cruz Alternative Music
- Eric
joined in December 1994, and was previously filling in for
Eden Retread after
his own band, Pile, broke up.
Our new demo tape, "Cigarette" is ready! Five songs
(Black Pepper,
Red Sweet,
Into The Ground, Tune and Pashing) and an attractive color cover can be
yours for only $5 (shipping included which is usually $1.50).
Allow a few weeks for delivery 'cause we're slackers.
Poppy will be touring this summer.
Southern California in April and hopefully
the Northwestern States in June (but maybe not). We'll go back to L.A. in
August and maybe more stuff in the fall.
