Brent Spar is an old, disused oil installation owned by Shell. It is a cylindrical structure measuring 137 metres in height, which is twice as high as Nelson's Column. 109 meters of the platform is submerged.
The Brent Spar platform was de-comissioned in 1991when it was abandoned and left to rust.
