http://www.uniqueway.co.uk/replay.html (The Risc Disc Volume 2, ~04/1995)Acorn Replay Movie Compression is available as a service to ISV's, Developers, Educational Establishments and other organisations who do not have the necessary facilities to process their own material. Movies may be produced from virtually any video tape or film format, although the higher the quality of the source material the better the movie will look.
Uniqueway Ltd., under license from Acorn Computers, is able to process material from the following formats
Before compression all material is processed and transferred to a high quality Betacam SP safety copy which is then used to produce the final Movie. In this way there is no risk of damage to valuable master tapes and films. It also ensures that the full height and width of the original picture is maintained in the final movie.
Normal turnaround is 72 Hrs from receipt of material for CD-ROM compatible (12.5 fps) movies of up to 4 minutes duration with accompanying sound track. The charge is £100 per minute or part thereof for transfer and processing of material with a normal minimum charge of £300 for Category A material and £200 for Category B material. N.B. There may be supplemental charge for transferring film material to tape or editing sequences prior to compression.
For longer movies, or if a fast turnaround is not required, then a 10 working day service is available which is also charged at £100 per minute but with a £100 minimum charge. For direct replay from hard disc or a fast CD-ROM drive on a suitable Acorn machine full 25 frame per second movies are available. The cost for this is £170 per minute or £100 extra if ordered at the same time as a 12.5 fps Movie.
Sound only movies are also available for transfer from 1/4" audio, DAT and the above Video formats. Prices are charged as follows £1.50 per movie clip or £2.50 per minute for clips of 30 seconds or more (£50 minimum charge).

Short movies may also be split up onto floppies for despatch, but they must be copied back onto disc for replay. Source (uncompressed) movies are archived for 3 months by Uniqueway or may be purchased for £50 per minute with a minimum charge of £150. Alternatively Uniqueway can arrange for the pressing of CD-ROMs either singly or in bulk.
Special rates are available for developers who require test material for development purposes.
Discounts are also available for large orders and Uniqueway is also able to assist in locating and obtaining copyright clearance for archive video and film material for inclusion in movies.
