E-EUROPE is a service designed to help persons wishing to do business in
Eastern Europe. It is essentially a database with up-to-date files
containing lists of persons in Eastern Europe wanting to do business,
lists of e-mail addresses there, lists of business possibilities there,
e.g. contruction projects, as well as lists of agencies that can help
facilitate things. Bulletins from the consulates and Dept. of Commerce are
also to be found.

E-Europe is accessed by mail. By sending the right mail message to the

database's e-mail address, you can get it to automatically retrieve
for you (by mail) the files you request. You may have to invest a little
time in getting the hang of it, but then drumming up new business contacts
does take a bit of work, doesn't it?

Here's what to do! First send a mail message to the address
listserv@pucc.princton.edu . Leave the "Subject:" line empty and in the
letter body write the "command":

sub e-europe your_name your_last_name

You will receive a message telling that you are "subscribed".

(In case you later want to unsubscribe, just send a message to the same
address with

signoff e-europe

in the letter body.) Better write that down, so you can shut it all
off if you don't like it.

After you are "subscribed", you can retrieve an index of available files
by sending to the same address with the command

INDEX E-EUROPE

in the letter body.

It's even possible to arrange to have copies of specific files
automatically sent to you each time they are updated.

As an example of just one of the recent files (as of this writing)
we include below a portion of one of them, namely file20

It was retrieved by mailing the command

get E-EUROPE FILE20

to the address mentioned above.

Eastern Europe Looks for Partners - February 26, 1993

Feature: Housing/Construction and Automotive
=============================================================================

Under the U.S. Government's American Business Initiative, the
Eastern Europe Business Information Center (EEBIC) has created the
"Eastern Europe Looks for Partners" information service, designed
to help U.S. businesses locate partnership opportunities in the
expanding East European and Baltic markets.

This issue focuses on housing, construction, and automotive
opportunities compiled from East European and U.S. public and
private sources. As their shelf life is limited, we recommend

following up promptly.

The opportunities are provided solely as an informational service
and do not represent an endorsement by the Department of Commerce.
Verification of these leads is the responsibility of the reader.

If your company should decide to pursue one or more of these
opportunities and would like our advice and assistance in doing so,
please feel free to contact EEBIC at (202) 482-2645.

Useful contacts for these and other opportunities in Eastern
Europe:

With grant assistance from the U.S. Government, a consortium has

been inaugurated to help firms in the U.S. housing and construction
sector establish a commercial presence in Eastern Europe and to
provide a broad range of export trading services to member firms.
The Consortium of American Housing Industries in Eastern Europe
(CAHIEE) has been launched by the American Building Products Export
Council, a trade association representing U.S. housing and
construction companies. The consortium has opened offices in
Warsaw and Budapest to promote U.S. building products and

technology, and to assist U.S. housing and construction companies
doing business in Eastern Europe. CAHIEE is open to all companies
in the housing and construction industry and to their suppliers.
